Daily Feast – September 26

Any Hunger? (1)

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. - Mathew 5:6

It is God's desire that His children experience heaven on earth, to have a replica of what happens in heaven here on earth. In God's kingdom, there is righteousness, peace and joy but why are believers not experiencing this? Why are they not having the best God planned for them? Whose fault is it, God’s, or His children? God's way is the way of success and blessing. Jesus did not come to this world to make us religious, but He came to give us life and Jesus is the only life-giver (See John 10:10).God cannot do anything if we refuse to make a demand of Him; even though He has all things we ever desire; even though all we will ever need in life has been prepared by God. There is no doubt about the fact that prayer is important but answer to prayer is based on our understanding of the basic biblical principles in the word of God.

Erroneously, some say they do not know how their lives will turnout, but the word of God gives us an insight of how our future will look like, depending on what we do or refuse to do. I can know a farmer who will suffer when others are harvesting; it is he who refuse to plant when others are. I can know a student who will not pass; he is the one that refuses to attend classes or refuses to sit for exams.

God's goodness is centred on two major things: His ability and His willingness. In other words, God is not only able to do what we ask of Him, He is also willing to do what we ask of Him as much it is His will and the bible is the book of His will. God is so generous as to even bless the children of His enemy. If He can be that magnanimous as to His enemy, how much more will He bless His own beloved (let us see 1 Corinthians 2:9)? When demand is more than supply, there is scarcity but there is no scarcity in God. We can never ask beyond God's supply; His blessings are inexhaustible. There is no supplementary budget in God.

In the book of Acts 12, the early church did not do as much as intercede when Apostles James was beheaded by King Herod. The ministry of James was terminated because the brethren refused to make a demand of protection from their powerful God. Supply was available but the ones to make the demand refused to and because the enemy saw that the church was ignorant of their right, the king had the boldness to also take Peter for execution. If the king had succeeded in taking Peter also, he would have killed them all one after the other. But thank God the church this time around began to pray, and Peter was delivered.

God supplies you according to your hunger. He will regulate what He gives you by your capacity or hunger to receive from Him. The important question then is “at what point are you full? At what point are you satisfied that you refuse to ask for more”? God can do more in your life than what you presently have so, do not stop asking. What is the demand you are making about your current situation? Life has pressure; life does not allow you to have your way until you put a pressure there. Be hungry! Be hungry to a level that you desire a change; desire to love God more, to pray more and be more intimate with your Maker.

Prayer: Oh Lord, create in me a spiritual hunger so that I will always make demand for what is available unto me in Christ. The Bible says in Isaiah 66:2 that God looks even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit and those who tremble at His word. I have the mind of Christ, so help me O Lord to always reverence respect and obey your words and your Spirit leadings in my life
