Daily Feast – December 24

Don’t run blindly

Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. - 1 Corinthians 9:26-27

In going forward and walking in your vision, you must not run blindly. Why? Life is a risk; you must not be afraid to take risk but don't jump with your eyes closed. With confidence in God's promise, Joshua went to Jericho in the power of the LORD and pulled down Jericho. God gave him victory. But in Joshua chapter 7 verse 3, a small city called Ai defeated Israel. Joshua sent spies to Ai but because of their past victory over Jericho, some people came to Joshua that he needs not to send many soldiers to Ai because it was a small city. They said since we were able to conquer Jericho, we will run over a small city of Ai with about 3,000 populations. So, they told Joshua to send just few people to conquer Ai. Without prayer, not taking time to seek the LORD, Joshua harkened and sent some people to fight Ai. When Joshua heard that the men he sent fled before the men of Ai, with 36 men dead in the battle, Joshua tore his clothes. He fell upon his face fasting and crying unto God in prayer.  God responded in Joshua 7:11-12.

Joshua should have prayed before to know what to do but he did not. Many people do not pray until they have trouble. When God says “Wait”, they will say, “I am in hurry.” After doing their own bidding and trouble surface, then they will cry back to God. We believe because we have succeeded in some things, it now becomes our formula. We say “After all, it can always work.” No, you need God to give you directions. There is nothing too small in your life that God should not know about. God will always give you a way of escape if you care to pray and seek direction from Him.

There are many things you don't know yet, so don't assume you know. You don't know everything but God knows everything. Your life is only secured with Him. Don't undertake a journey before you know your destination. Don't take a blind risk in life, take counsel (Proverbs 11:14). Life is a mystery, we know our past, we know a little of today, but we don't know tomorrow. The most intelligent of us cannot assume tomorrow more than you know your past. Unconsciously He will guide you; He will order your steps. That is why we need to pray to Him (Jeremiah. 33:3). Sit down to plan. The highest building in the Middle East is 164 storey building, it started from a well-planned out foundation. Preparation is the mother of success, so prepare adequately for your future.

Prayer: Everyone destined for greatness in life is always a target of mischievous agents; I decree in the Name of Jesus that shame, confusion and dishonour shall be the portion of those that magnify themselves against me. Lord keep me under the shadow of your wings with the grace to rest patiently in you.
