Taking Advantage Of Divine Opportunities

Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.”...So Isaac dwelt in Gerar... Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.   -Genesis 26:2,6,12

Someone defines POOR as ‘Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly. There are always opportunities around us especially when God created opportunities around us in the times of recession.  The time of recession is not the time to close our eyes. It is a recession for the world but a transfer of wealth for the church, so do not have a mindset of not looking for opportunities because there is no recession in heaven where we operate from. However, the instructions or directions of God you are willing to obey will determine the future you are going to create for yourself at this period.

Some facts you need to understand in taking advantage of divine opportunities

I. The key to obedience and service (Job 36:11): Your obedience to His instructions must be total if you want God to be involved in your life. God wants you to both create and enjoy your wealth. We have a reward of both prosperity and pleasure and if they enjoyed God’s promises in the Old Testament, we should expect a better deal under a better testament. We must listen to His instructions, obey His voice and do what is right in His sight (Exo.15:26). Sometimes what we call problems are divine opportunities just like in crossing of the Red Sea, the story of the widow of Zarephath and others in the Bible.

II. Make the Holy Spirit your Lord (2. Cor. 3:17-18): Jesus succeeded because He made the Holy Spirit His Lord. We also must give the Holy Spirit control and yield completely to His leadings. When you make Him your Lord His wisdom becomes the final authority in your life and you experience emancipation, liberty, jubilee, glory and blessing. You need the liberty to maximize your potential on earth.

iii.  No pain, no gain (Matthew 13:44-46): Great destinies and visions are birthed in an atmosphere of sacrifice and convictions. Many times we do not see opportunities in closed doors, whereas what seems like a closed door is the beginning of another new opening. There are always opportunities in our challenges. If you are not ready to lose you are not ready to gain. [The merchant in the parable in Matthew 13 saw into the future and what he could become by investing into his future. We need to cast our fear aside and step into the glorious future instead of holding to the rope of comfort, you should sacrifice your today for the greater blessing of tomorrow (Prov. 21: 17b).

IV. To fail is not to be a failure: Every champion faces a momentary setback at one time or the other. Don’t become discouraged and despondent thinking you have got to a place of no return. You must choose not to fail as you focus your thoughts on God’s thoughts and make your word his words. It will be well with you in Jesus name.
