Acting On Your Faith

When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it. - Matthew 9:27-30

There is the story of two blind men who got their miraculous healing because they demonstrated faith. In the ninth chapter of the gospel as recorded by Matthew, the two blind men who were shouting and begging Jesus that they should be healed. [Matt 9: 27] The blind men might have heard how Jesus healed others in the past and they had faith in this believing that whenever they also have the chance to get close to Jesus they would call on him to heal them.

One day Jesus was passing their way and somebody might have told the blind men that Jesus was passing. But ask yourself, since the men were blind, who helped them to get to Jesus in the midst of multitude? Though they were blind, they had ears to hear the direction of footsteps of the multitudes.

Many times, people fold their hands and assume that they can’t do anything! The two men were truly blind, but they did the possible. They traced the footsteps of the multitude who were following Jesus and they called out. Beloved, never come to a point that you think there is nothing else you can do. When you do the possible, God will do the impossible. For the blind men, it may be impossible to see, but it was possible for them to pick the signal of sound with their ears and move toward the direction. And when they got to Jesus, see their requests:

And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying and saying, Thou Son of David, has mercy on us. - Matthew 9: 27: 

The request made by the blind men sound like general and unspecified request. What could be their definition of mercy? Is it to give them money, food or provide shelter? In our prayers, we need to be specific in our prayer request because nothing becomes dynamic until it is specific. Always be specific in your prayers. Despite the fact that the two blind men cried for mercy, their cry did not stop Jesus neither did the blind men stop crying for mercy. Also, brethren, your faith as a believer will be tested. When the blind men finally get to the house, Jesus asked them, “Believe ye that I am able to do this”?

From the action of the two blind men running after Jesus and crying out for Mercy, it is obvious that the blind men believed that Jesus could heal them. Jesus asked them “Believe ye that I am able to do this”? They answered him and said “Yea Lord” And see what happened after they expressed their faith.

Matthew 9: 29 says “Then touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you”. Until the blind men expressed their believe through their words, Jesus did not touch them.  You must express your believe and release your faith by speaking whatever you believe God for, take the step of faith by doing what you are supposed to do.
