The Power Of Singleness
To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven. - Ecclesiastes 3: 1
Life is lived in stages with each stage being very unique. God gave room for different stages as each has its own uniqueness in Gods program. Singleness is not inferior; rather it is a training ground for the next stage of life. Singleness is beautiful and possesses certain unique opportunities which every single must exploit. Note this truth; you cannot be single twice. When one gets married, the advantages of singleness are removed. That is why God is so careful about how you handle your single life time which is a gift from God.
To properly know what singleness means, let’s first find out what it is not.
1.) Singleness is not a sin.
2.) Singleness is not a curse.
3.) Singleness is not a sickness.
4.) Singleness is not a problem.
5.) Singleness is not a limitation.
With the above illustrations, singleness is a necessary package in the process of life. 1 Corinthians 7: 6-7 (NLT). At a stage of life, we all have been single or you are still a single, one of the gifts bestowed upon singleness is the grace of time to serve God. That is why you can be single and be solid; you can be single and be successful; you can be single and be whole; you can be single and be fulfilled. There are different young people in the Bible who used their precious single periods working into the heart of God.
David (1 Samuel 17: 1-58): He was single and still got the anointing to kill Goliath and had intimacy with God before his marriage.
Mary And Martha (Luke 10: 38-42): They were single and serving God.
Joseph (Genesis 39: 1-23, 41: 37-42): He was single yet had a vision. He lived in Holiness. He overcame temptation and lived a successful life before marriage.
Daniel (Daniel 1:8-15, 6: 1-3): Single but he lived above compromise; he focused on his career and became the best amongst his equals.
Timothy (2 Timothy 4:19): Single and was a successful minister of God who had quality friendship with sisters without pollution.
Paul (Romans 16: 1-23; 2 Timothy 4:19): Single but never polluted his women co-workers.
John The Baptist (Matthew 3: 1-14): A single who understood the gift of singleness.
90% of Jesus’ disciples were singles; e.g. the chosen 12 who sacrificed their lives to establish God’s kingdom (Matthew 10: 1-20). Our Lord Jesus Christ spent thirty three years and six months ministering as a young man. He lived for a cause. (John 4: 34).
Prayer: Father, help me to apply my single life in the pursuit of your plan and purpose in Jesus name, Amen.
