Godliness is Profitable
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.- 1 Timothy 4:8
Godliness is not the consequence of your capacity to imitate God, but the consequence of His capacity to reproduce Himself in you; not self-righteousness, but Christ- righteousness; the righteousness which is by faith.
Godliness means living for God. Beloved, it pays to live for God. We are saved by the blood of Jesus but rewarded by our works for God and His purpose.
Naturally, you need to sweat out to stay physically fit; that is the profiting of bodily exercise. As good as physical exercise is it has its own limit. Everything in the world can be temporary but godliness is profitable in all things. The profit of godliness is both in this world and also in the world to come. There are many who are rich in this world but do not believe in Jesus. The Bible says if, as believers, all our rewards are here on earth, then we are the most miserable of all men. Whatever we have here on earth is just an addition to encourage us that even though the devil is the god of this age, God still has the sovereign power to bless us.
As children of the Most High, we have assignments here, we are not yet home. One day, we will go to our eternal home and go to our true reward. So be determined to live for God. If you follow God and live for Him consistently, your profiting will be apparent to all, both in you and your future generations. Men will see the benefit of you choosing God. Here on earth, God rewards us with good health, long life, being led in the path of peace and joy, with God handling our enemies for us, with living free from every attack of the enemy.
Prayer: By my confession, I testify to Satan and all the demonic forces what the word of God says and what the blood of Jesus does for me.
