Living a life of purity (Part 2)
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work - 2 Timothy 2:20-21
Follow a man as he follows Jesus, when he turns away from Jesus, stop following Him. There are greedy Christians who are not satisfied with what God has for them. Our nation would have changed today if believers had lived for the Lord. However, God is depending on you as the 'remnant' that will be the model of salts and lights in the world (see Ephesians 5:3).
When something entices you and your body says, go and sin, tell your body, “You are dead”. God talked to himself also, He said, “Let us make man in our own image”. You are a talking spirit; you too can talk to your body. Say no, it is not right. Your body should not mislead you.
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. - Romans 6:6
When a child is born, he first learns to sit. Then he crawls, stands, and walks. If you see a small child that was born who started running the same day, you will call it a mystery. Normally in learning to walk a child will stumble severally. In your life too, there may be momentary stumbling in your walk with God. If a child refuses to make further attempts at walking because of stumbling, he will never walk. In your Christian life you can stumble, that is why He makes provision of forgiveness for you. You should confess and say, 'I am sorry Lord”. Do not wait till Sunday to confess. Quickly rise up and say I am sorry Lord in my heart I Do not want to fail you. I come to you asking for your mercy and forgiveness in your name. There is forgiveness! (See I John 1:9).
He told us to come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy in the time of need. It is mercy you need and not justice when you fail (Hebrew 4:16). Why is He forgiving us all the time? He does it so that the devil will not accuse us. If he accuses us, our prayer may be hindered.
Jesus was led to the pool of Bethsaida (John 5:1-6). He met there a man who was sick and dying for 38 years. The sickness was 8 years older than Jesus! He healed him and told him to sin no more lest a worse thing happens to him. It means sin opened him to 38 years of infirmity. If you know the havoc that sin can bring, you will not want to sin for a day. That is why I advise you to live for the Lord. Do not leave sin un-confessed. If you miss it, rise up, repent and continue with the Lord. Be confident in God that He is able to help you
Prayer: Dear God, I come boldly to your throne today and I confess my every sin because I know that I continually have a forgiving Redeemer: Jesus Christ the atoning sacrifice for my sins. I receive the grace not to serve sin as my old man has been crucified with Christ. I declare that I am like salt among the people and my life lights up the world. I will not become bland losing my saltiness only to be thrown out and trampled on, instead I let my light shine brightly before others so that they may see my good works and then they will give their praise to my father in heaven in JESUS NAME.
