Daily Feast – May 15

You Are A Stranger On Earth

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.- Hebrews 11:8-10

As a believer, always remember that you are on a journey and that you are a stranger here on earth. Faith is a journey on earth; you can’t claim to love God and be static. You move with God if you actually love to walk by faith.

Even in the old Testament, the ark of God in the tabernacle was carried on the shoulders of the priests to everywhere the children of Israel went.

Before God called Abraham, Abraham had shelter, he was prosperous, and he had the comfort and love of his people even though childless. Yet, God told Abraham to leave his comfort zone for his commitment zone. Abraham obeyed God because he believed what God has promised him, that one day, he would be a father of people of different skin colours; white, black or red. Faith is seeing what people are not seeing. Begin to see what others are not seeing (Joshua 6:2)

Life is a pilgrimage, and Abraham had this understanding. That was why he didn’t find it difficult to obey God even when it involved the life of his precious son, Isaac. Abraham had the understanding that nothing in this world was worth holding on to. No wonder, he was willing to sacrifice his son when God tested him.

Those who cling to material things as if their life depends on it should know that, whatever they compromise to keep will all be lost on the long run.

Prayer: Lord, help me to always set my affection on things above, not things on earth in Jesus Name
