Faith Has Works (2)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who [j]did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. - Hebrews 11:1-2; 31
Many people claim they are in faith but they are too lazy to back up their faith with appropriate action. Rahab heard the story of the mighty deliverance God wrought for His people in bringing them out of the land of slavery. She also heard of the wonders God performed since the Israelite came out of Egypt; and she then put her belief into action.
No wonder the Bible says Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe. The people of the land of Jericho would have submitted to the God of Israel, having heard how God brought out the Israelites from the land of Egypt with a mighty hand. Instead of believing in God, they trusted in the strength of how well their wall was fortified but Rahab believed that the God who opened the Red sea for the children of Israelites would still fight for the Israelites no matter how the supposedly foolish things the Israelites were doing by marching around Jericho for six days.
Rahab escaped destruction with members of her family because she believed and acted on what she believed. As a result of this, her house stood, when every other houses in Jericho fell. In these last days when others come down, I pray that you will remain standing in Jesus name! Amen. But this issue is beyond prayer, it is more of your believe, confession and action.
Prayer: O Lord, by the word of your power, I believe you have lifted me to a place of victory where every trace of fear and torment are banished. I stand on your word today and make a confession of victory in every area of my life in Jesus name
