Be well grounded
Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great- Luke 6:46-49
Your root determines your fruit. The deeper the foundation, the better the glory of the structure on it. If you want to produce great fruit for God and for yourself, be deeply rooted (Isaiah 37:31). Beloved, how deep you are will determine how high you will grow. That is why you should be very interested in your depth. Your depth will define your height.
Fruits are upward, they are external, and they are conspicuous. Everybody wants success because success is attractive; success is exciting. God wants you to succeed but God is more interested in your root because God knows when the root is taken care of, the fruits will be sustained. Roots go downward, roots are obscure and they are internal. What does this imply? When the root is going deep, it is as if nothing is happening. In your life also, don't be in a hurry to manifest. You don't need to impress anybody, impress God.
The time of preparation is not a wasted time. Foundation is important in your life so have a right foundation. That is why a teaching church is always a glorious church. It is easier to preach for few minutes but the devil is too wicked for a believer to handle the word of God with levity. The devil has one track mind; it is to kill all of us. But the more of God's word you know, the more it becomes difficult for the devil to have you.
Life has contradictions and storm comes to great and small but if you are built up in God, you can survive any attack. Have time for the word of God (Proverbs 4:20). Storm comes to all of us; whether you like it or not. Be a house built on a rock so that when the storm of life comes, you will not be overwhelmed by the flood of life.
From our text, the two of them heard but only one of them was a doer of the word. If the end of the one that heard and doeth not is disastrous, what happens to the one that refuse to hear? Again let me ask, if two of them heard and Jesus said the one that heard and acted could not be destroyed, but the one that heard and doeth not was destroyed because he didn't act on the word, what will be the destiny of the one that refused to come to the church to hear? If you think God's word is not good for you, then God is not good to you. But assuredly, our God is good. You need to hear His word, take root and produce greatness.
Prayer: Lord, make me deeper in your love in Jesus name. Amen!
