Turning Information to Revelation

But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work today in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, the first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. - Matthew 21:28-31

This is the story of a man and his two sons. He sent them on an errand. One rebelled and said that he was not going; but later he changed his mind, for he must have pondered on the information he heard from his father. He thought deeply that the person sending him on errand was his father, God, the one that made him and can bless his future. He must have meditated on the instructions and therefore information became revelation to him.

Beloved, until you process information to become revelation in your life, it will not profit you. But between information and revelation is meditation. This is the reason why great thinkers rule the world. Too much knowledge without wisdom does not produce result. The prodigal son came to himself and changed his mind. Any time you don't come to yourself, you remain a fool for the rest of your life.

Luke 15:17-18 says: “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against even and against you”.

Here, we see the account of the prodigal son, who went away to a strange land to waste his substance. But along the line he came to himself. The information that made him suffer like an idiot dawn on him that 'why waste away, when there is abundance in my father's house'. He asked himself why he should continue to dine with swine when he was a sheep of the Lord. His condition might be in the mud, but his position was not with the swine in the mud. So, he rose up and returned to his father's house. For the first time, through experience and suffering, he transformed information to revelation.

Beloved, the information you get by cramming the bible does not make you wise, it only makes you smart. Think through the information until it becomes God’s revealed will in your heart. The two sons represent two Christians today with different results. One speaks without thinking; he does not look at the implication of what he is saying. The bible says in Matthew 21:30 that “and he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir and went not”. From the look of things, it looks as if the second son honours his father. But your respect for the father can be at a level of information only which ends in lip-service without a corresponding action to back it up.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me your ways and I will abide by your biddings today. Amen
