Daily Feast – December 9

Identify & Honour God’s Anointed

Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’ ” So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”- 2 Kings 7:1-2

An anointed person carries precious, heavenly substance called the anointing. An anointed man is a man of two worlds; one is physical and the other, spiritual. This is a strange combination of humanity and divinity in one person and it accounts for why it is easier for their close relatives to see them only at the natural level. The son of King David (Absalom) never saw his father as the anointed one, no wonder it was easy for him to rebel against his father, David. Reuben could sleep with his father's wife because he didn't see his father as an anointed man who had fought with an angel and won.

If you don't know the mystery of the combination of the anointed one, you may likely despise the anointed. You must be wise to handle this strange combination; don't allow it to confuse you. When an issue comes up in your local church and you don't have the full understanding of the issue, you don't necessarily have to make comments. A foolish chief of staff made the mistake of his life when he trivialised the anointing on Prophet Elisha and he paid dearly for it.

I beseech you, brethren, never to ridicule the words spoken by the anointed, no matter how strange the words may sound. Naturally speaking, it may be impossible for a nation to witness an economic 100% turn-around within 24hrs but when a prophet speaks, he does not speak of his own but he speaks the mind of God.

Don't relate to God as if He does not mean what He says. The more you respect the anointing, the more it works for you. He who honours God will be honoured and he who despises Him He will also despise. There is an account of a woman in the gospel of Mark who respected the Anointed One and the anointing worked in her favour. Also, God’s anointed is an agent of change, see him as such. God respects whoever He anoints, you must also learn to relate with the anointed with respect. There is prosperity where the anointing is honoured. Your journey is accelerated where there is honour for the anointing.

Prayer: O Lord, give me more grace to believe and honour your several dealings in my life. I will not have portion with those who take holy things for granted in Jesus Christ Name
