Fulfilling Your Destiny; Noah As An Example

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. -Hebrews 11:7

Noah was like an oasis in a dry desert, a righteous man in the midst of a wicked generation. God anointed him to preach to his generation and warn them about the flood that will end the wickedness of the people. He preached for 120 years and he was only able to save the seven members of his household, while all species of animals, fishes, reptiles, birds insects entered the Ark, no other person believed his words of salvation. They all perished in the flood due to unbelief and stubbornness of heart. They would have been telling themselves, “it won’t happen, it can’t happen, who is Noah to be sent to us by God”. This is exactly the response of the people in all ages to the preaching of the Ministers (Evangelists, Pastors, Prophets, Apostles). The people of Noah’s generation acted without faith, no fear of God, and never entered the Ark (salvation and rest); Heb. 4:1-2; Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed, the gospel was preached to us as well as them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it”.

All of the time, the word of God has the great power to deliver people, save souls and bless lives but the people must hear, receive and yield to the word. While the generation of Noah perished in the flood, Noah’s household members were delivered and preserved. But after the flood, the blessings of the family were short-lived. In his drunkenness and under the influence of alcohol, he cursed his grandson, Canaan, because of the dishonour of Ham; the father of Canaan (Gen 9:24-27; 11:29-30).

Though the starting point of Noah was great and his walk with God was commendable but his latter day was marred with reckless behaviours like drunkenness which opened the door for ancestral curse and affliction.

Prayer: O Lord, help me by the power of the Holy Ghost to please you in all areas of my life. I reject all forms of lawlessness and works of the flesh in Jesus Name. Amen
