Daily Feast – May 16

Faith Has Works

And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. So they brought out all her relatives and left them outside the camp of Israel- Joshua 6:23

Rahab was a woman of faith. She knew God will give the Israelites the city of Jericho and so she made up her mind to be on the winning side. She decided to believe in the God of Israel, when no one else in her culture did. In your life too, the fact that others do not believe in what God has said does not mean you should not also believe. Even though, Rahab was a stranger and an harlot, she heard what happened to other cities that fought Israel in the past and she made up her mind to be on the Lord’s side. That is faith! And her entire family was sheltered under the shadow of her faith. The Bible says her whole family were saved.

As a believer, let your faith covers your entire household; your spouse, children, brothers and sisters; use your faith as a cover for them. Rahab made sure she made adequate arrangement for members of her family, even though she was just an harlot. This shows she had so much interest in saving her household. No wonder Apostle James, under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, included the name of Rahab among the names of the people of faith (James 2:25). You may wonder why Rahab lied to the king of Jericho about the whereabouts of the spies and God did not count it as a sin against her. Yes, Rahab lied, but at that time, she was still a gentile and had not yet started serving the God of Israel who gave the Ten Commandments. Brethren, don’t judge people based on your own standard; rather, judge them based on their own standard.

At a time in our lives, we were also sinners but Jesus forgave us of our past when we came to Him. Your faith in God makes God to eliminate your past and cast it out to the sea of forgetfulness. God cancels your past, throws it to the sea of forgetfulness and reconcile the world unto Himself.

Prayer: O Lord, I thank you for saving me by grace through faith. You have given me power over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt me in Jesus name
