Daily Feast – May 7

Giving God your best

“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honor? and if I am a Master, where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts to you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’ “You offer defiled food on My altar, but say, ‘In what way have we defiled You?’ By saying,
‘The table of the Lord is contemptible.’ And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?” Says the Lord of hosts. “But now entreat God’s favor, That He may be gracious to us. While this is being done by your hands, Will He accept you favorably?” Says the Lord of hosts. - 1 Peter 5:7

Life is a matter of give and take. As human being, we take in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide. As God has given us life through His son, Jesus Christ who paid the supreme sacrifice with His precious blood, we need to show gratitude to God by our excellent sacrifice. What God needs to bless you is not how much you have to give Him, but the largeness of your heart towards Him. If you honour God, you will not give God your leftover or what is worthless. There is faith in your giving.

Faith is what you do with the offering plate. Whatever you give God shows the level of your faith. If you actually have faith in God, you will make God priority. Anyone who finds it difficult to give does not have faith to give.

When we talk of giving, it is not how much you give but how well you give. Someone who has N10, 000 and give God 3,000 is better than someone who has a million and gives N10, 000. Faith speaks because it has a voice. Even though Abel had died many years ago, his faith is speaking still. Heb11:4 states, ‘By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous. God testifying of his gifts; and by it, he, being dead yet speaketh”. Faith and giving are two sides of a coin. When a person does not like to give, it shows he does not have faith. If you actually love the Lord, you will be so committed to Him that you will never consider anything too much to give Him. If you have faith that God can give you abundant return for whatever you give Him, you will give without any reservation.

Prayer: Oh Lord, I acknowledge you as my source. I receive the grace to always give you my best in Jesus name.
