Daily Feast – May 8

Be Doer of His Word

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; or he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.- James 1:22-25

To walk with God is to work in His Word. You can’t claim to be walking with God and not walk by His word or do what His word says. This is because God and His words are inseparable. As a believer, you must ask yourself every moment of your life “What does God’s word say on this matter?” Once you know what the word of God says, you believe it, confess it and act on it.

To walk by faith is to walk by His word. You can’t walk contrary to God’s word and claim you are walking by faith. Faith is more than talking; faith is acting on what you believe. Are you walking with God based on His word? Are you following Him? Are your steps guided by His words? Romans.8:14 states “As many as are led by the Spirit, they are sons of God”.

As a child of God, go beyond the level of believing in your heart; start being led by the Spirit of God in all you do. Rise up, and start doing the bidding of God as instructed in His word. (See Isaiah 60:1). Do not allow circumstances to define your life, rather, let what God says about your situation to be the final.

Prayer: Oh Father! I receive the grace to be doer of your word and not the hearer only so as to continually be blessed in my deed in Jesus Name. Amen
