Daily Feast – November 18

God Cares (3)

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”  Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”- Mark 4:37-41

Though the disciples heard Jesus taught repeatedly, it was left to them to either believe or reject what they have heard. In the present situation, all they needed to do was to act on what He spoke to them and speak to the storms like someone with divine authority.

The disciples asked, “what manner of man is this, that even wind and the sea obey Him”. They knew He was unique, and He was the Messiah, but they did not understand the fact that the wind and sea could also hear Him, not to talk of obeying Him. Little did they know that whatever God created cannot disobey Him. Beloved, whatever God creates has the ability to hear and obey Him. The disciples were surprised; though they have seen Jesus cast out evil spirits, they have never witnessed nature obey Him instantly. Though they were present when He cursed the fig tree, it only happened about 24 hours after.

Many of us are waiting for Jesus to help us fix what we can fix for ourselves. What you need to survive any situation is in you, not around you. At our new birth, we have been given the name of Jesus to use in whatever circumstance we may face. Being a believer does not guarantee a challenge-free life. But the good news is that there is an answer to every situation in God's word, therefore you can dare anything. Your future is bright and brilliant; better days are ahead of you. Whatever the enemy is doing cannot define your future. God's plan for your life shall come to pass. All you need to succeed in life is in you. The disciple did not use what they had to rebuke the storm. Because they have heard Jesus preached the Word many times, they already had faith. Though they had faith in them, but they refused to make use of it.

During the earthly ministry of Jesus, many people came in contact with Him, but they still had trouble. How can Jesus be available and yet you have trouble? It can only be because you have refused to do what you ought to do. As a matter of principle, God does not do for you what you can do for yourself. Faith is very important that is why you must always hear God's word; you must be serious with God and His word.

Prayer: To expect the Lord to do what I can only do for myself is to tempt God so in Jesus Name, I choose to do my part; taking up responsibility having believe that there is no failure in God.
