Focus on God (2)

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. - Colossians 3:2

What is your focus on? God should be our number one focus, and I know that if we take care of that, God will take care of everything else. When things we desire are not coming quickly, the enemy usually attacks our mind with frustration. This was what happened to Father Abram. At a time in the life of Abraham, he got frustrated because of his childlessness; and at a time, he spoke out his frustration.

In the first verse of that scripture, God told Abram He was more than a thing to be used but that He, is a reward bigger than anything he has or he may get. And we could imagine God getting shocked at Abram's response. God must have wondered, "Didn't Abraham hear what I just said that I'm his reward? How can he have Me and still be asking for things? If you have Me, you have everything". Many have shipwrecked their faith because they only seek God because of what they will get from Him. Believers are not to worship success; our focus should be on preparation, not promotion because success is inevitably an end-product for every genuine child of God.

For God to change the mentality of Abraham, God had to bring him out to look at the sky. Before this event, his focus had been on his challenge; his childlessness and inability to have an heir. But God knew He had to change his mentality for his circumstance to change.

Prayer: In Jesus name, Lord I pray you grant unto me a heart that seeks You above all.  Help me O Lord, to trust you with the life you give me so that I can always line up with your program for my life in Jesus Name.
