Daily Feast – October 4

Mind your company

He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. - Proverbs 13:20

Be careful of the association you keep because your friend affects your thought pattern (Psalm 101:3). I have seen too many people who have great destinies who do not understand this scripture. Somebody is wrong, he failed God and left church, yet you still allow them around your life; you do not like yourself. There are people in this world, who are blessed, wherever they go, blessing is there. On the other hand, there are those who are cursed, everywhere they go, curse is going with them.

When the widow of Nain was coming out of the city with the corpse of her only son, in the company of those who carried the corpse, they met Jesus at the gate. Life met death at the gate of the city. Jesus did not ask for permission from them, He just touched the bier (coffin) and said to the dead boy, “Young man, rise!” This is life, swallowing death (Luke 7:11-15).

But when Jonah was in the ship, travelling on a wrong journey because he was fighting God, everybody in the ship was in trouble. In your life also, there are some people that bring disaster to you because you have chosen them to be around your life. As long as Lot was in the company of Abraham, God stopped talking to Abraham in the journey of destiny. There are people that should not be around your life. Don’t hate them but love them from a distance if they will pervert your destiny.

The Psalmist said,

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside (fall away); it shall not cleave to me. Psalm 101:3

Do not let their destiny be your destiny.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20.

If you are not like them, you will not be comfortable with them. I say this to you, you can love everybody, but you don't have a reason to like everybody. In our culture we have sloppy agape. What we call love is reckless compromise. Real agape does not violate God's word. If you like everybody, you will compromise all your life. You will not reach where God plans for you. Some people should be loved from far distance because they will affect your life negatively. Nothing just happens.

Prayer: In Jesus Name, I receive the spirit of boldness to stand true to my commitment to my Lord Jesus. For my boldness is an evident token of perdition to the enemies of my soul according to Philippians 1:28.
