Daily Feast – October 5

Mind your company (2)

He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. - Proverbs 13:20

When God judged Ahab, He judged him along with his family. When He judged Jeroboam, He judged his family. When He judged Achan, He judged his family even though his children did not sin. When He judged Israel on their way to the Promised Land, He judged all of them into 40 years of wandering in the wilderness including people who did not deliberately sin. You must be mindful of your company. Mind your exposure because it is your exposure that will determine your posture.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked. - Psalm 26:4-5

The psalmist was talking about integrity. When you have integrity, you will stand with God. You will mind your company and what you are exposed to in terms of book, magazine, music, films, internet; all these will determine the outcome of your life.

Acts 19:13-20, we find the story where the seven sons of Sceva were beaten up by a demonized man. The devil talked through the man and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?” On account of this incidence, many people believed and brought their books which they used for curious arts and burnt them.

What are the instruments of the enemies in your house that you are keeping? If you don’t think like them, you will not be comfortable with them. What do you have with you that should not be in your home, in your family? In the passage above, they were believers already. God's word will not prevail in your life if you don't make a choice to put away and get rid of things that are not valuable to your Christian health.

There are some friends; there are some issues and situation around your life that will not allow God's word to prevail. Don't be in a wrong company. Some people like company because they like ceremonies. They must embark on every journey; they must attend every party, burial or marriage ceremony. Some do not even drink alcohol but they are near those who like to drink it. When disaster comes around these people they love to stay with, they are also affected. Watch your company.

Prayer: Lord, protect me from the hand of strange children in Jesus Name. Lord give me help from trouble and let not my confidence be in man. I claim total deliverance from everything relationship that hold me captive in Jesus Name
